Rosacea : The ins and outs – and how to treat this skin condition

Rosacea, let’s start with how to pronounce it, ro-ZAY-sha.

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that can begin with redness in the face similar to flushing or blushing. It can cause persistent redness, pimples, and visible blood vessels and can be easily confused with other skin conditions, such as acne and sunburn.

How do we treat Rosacea ?

At TASH360, we use a 3-Dimensional approach to help get Rosacea under control. Rosacea may vary substantially from patient to patient, therefore medical treatment and other measures are always tailored for each individual. In some cases, topical creams or medication would be prescribed to reduce flare ups, in some cases we use the most advanced light therapy treatments to reduce redness/flushing and broken capillaries

Treatment options for Rosacea

  • Self-care  : Sunblock, Moisturiser and the correct skincare
  • Medications : Antibiotics, Vitamin A derivative and Topical creams
  • Laser Therapy –  BBL Light and Erbrium Laser, Laser therapy

Let’s talk BBL Light Treatments (aka laser theraphy)  :

First things first, let’s give a little bit more background about BBL.. Broadband light treatments (BBL)  is one of the world’s most powerful IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device on the market. It sets a new standard in treating many skin conditions. BBL stimulates cells to regenerate , and typically with the first treatment you will start to see smoother, more even and vibrant skin.

How BBL™ Works to Treat Rosacea

In the treatment of Rosacea. BBL can help treat dilated blood vessels and recurring redness. BBL is effective against certain symptoms of rosacea, including dilated blood vessels, persistent or recurring redness, thickening of the skin, flushing, and acne-like breakouts. The photothermal energy will eliminate fine vessels that cause redness and reduce unwanted melanin that produces age , sun spots and unwanted skin conditions.

Although there is no cure for rosacea unfortunately, BBL™ light treatments helps stimulate new cell growth, and with the use of its advanced form of light energy to shrink the blood vessels that cause rosacea which leads to a calmer appearance.

What to Expect from BBL™ Treatments for Rosacea

Although some patients see some immediate improvement with just one treatment, 3-5 sessions are typically required for best results.

BBL™ treatments for rosacea are quick and relatively painless. Most patients describe the sensation as a tiny rubber band being snapped against their skin. If you do feel any discomfort, we can apply a topical numbing cream. A BBL™ treatment for rosacea typically takes around 15 minutes and makeup can be applied immediately after treatment. Many of our patients return to work or normal activities after receiving their treatment.

The results after 4 BBL Treatments

Recovery from BBL™ Treatments for Rosacea

The healing process after a BBL™ treatment for rosacea will vary by individual, but most of our patients seem to experience redness or tenderness for two to five days after treatment. Expect any age spots or freckles to darken and flake away after several days. After a week or so, you should be able to enjoy your revived complexion that looks calmer than ever before. It is important to follow the aftercare instructions given to you to ensure optimal results and schedule periodic BBL™ treatments to maintain your results.
